Dermal Fillers, Face Fillers & Cosmetic Fillers Info

As people age, usually connective tissue degrades, moisture fades and fat disappears from beneath your skin, people may begin to lose volume, plumpness and firmness. In turn, this can create folds, creases and lines.

Your skin can become more delicate and less supportive. Your lips may become thinner, and your eyelids may droop. Gaunt areas can make you look older than you need to.

Dermal fillers can replenish these areas and help you feel like yourself again. They’re usually made out of hyaluronic acid, a substance that is naturally found in the body. Hyaluronic acid can help the skin retain moisture. When it’s injected into specific areas of skin, hyaluronic acid can fill in empty spaces, adding subtle lift and support.

Most people who choose to get fillers are generally between the ages of 25 and 60. They may have noticed that their face shape is changing. Some patients may use fillers preventatively, and others may use it to enhance certain areas such as lips and cheeks. Some patients can use dermal fillers to address lost volume in these areas.

The ideal candidates for fillers usually still have some elasticity in their skin. Fillers can stretch the skin to some extent, and they don’t last forever. As the filler fades, the skin should snap back to its original position.

Fillers can be helpful for smoothing frown lines, tear troughs, nasolabial folds, marionette lines, vertical lip lines, chin wrinkles and the furrows around your eyes. They can also smooth out wrinkles on the backs of your hands and add volume to cheeks and lips.

This cosmetic procedure may be best for people with deep creases. Fine lines can be more effectively treated with laser skin resurfacing or PRP skin treatments.
