PRF for Acne Scars

Hair and Skin Science is pleased to offer PRF injections for acne scars.

PRF for acne scars can be an effective treatment for treating a wide range of skin conditions, including scars left by acne.

PRF, platelet rich fibrin, is an evolution of the very popular PRP skin treatment that uses the healing potential contained within your own blood as the treatment.

First consultation is free!

Rather than spinning at high speed to separate the plasma from the rest, PRF treatments spin at a slower speed to help keep more white blood cells, fibrin, stem cells and platelets within the solution. This can result in PRF treatments containing up to 10x platelet concentration when compared to PRP. PRF treatment can also continue to release more growth factors over time, even after your treatment is completed.

This increases the healing potential of the solution many times over, which is why it’s so popular!

PRF Injections for Acne Scars

PRF for acne scars uses a similar process to the exceptionally popular PRF skin treatments and PRP treatments. It uses the awesome healing potential of your own blood to treat problem areas.

We firmly believe the treatment is exceptionally effective at treating acne scars, other skin scars, wrinkles, fine lines, stretch marks and the many signs of ageing.

PRF treatments build on the success of PRP skin treatments in a number of fundamental ways.

PRF treatments containing up to 10x platelet concentration when compared to PRP. PRF treatment can also continue to release more growth factors over time, even after your treatment is completed!

How does PRF for Acne Scars Work?

PRF for acne scars is a simple, non-invasive treatment that could genuinely transform the way you see yourself in the mirror and how others see you.

Appointments last just 45 minutes and leave minimal signs of treatment. This means you can schedule an appointment in your lunch hour or any time really!

The appointment will look a little something like this:

We will draw a small amount of blood, like a blood test. We run the blood through a special centrifuge to separate the blood from the plasma and the platelets.

The solution will include fibrin, stem cells, white blood cells, growth factors and platelets. All the things your body uses to help it heal and generate new cells.

We then prepare the PRF solution and use a specialist microneedler device to apply it to the affected areas of your skin.

You then have the option to apply a red LED light to the treated area. This helps reduces redness and inflammation and accelerates the healing.

Once complete, you’re free to go about your day with some redness and minimal signs of having treatment completed.

Before and after your PRF Treatment for Acne Scars

The vast majority of clients who have PRF injections leave with minimal signs of redness after having undergone treatment. A few may show minor redness at the site of the treatment and perhaps experience a mild tingling, but this passes quickly.

PRF for acne scars has been deliberately designed to be as safe and painless as possible.

It requires no surgery, no medication, no fillers or chemicals. It just uses the massive healing potential of your own blood in a targeted manner.

If you are currently taking any medication or are undergoing any treatment that affects the blood, please note this on your medical history form and we will review if there could potentially be any issues.

If you’re taking over the counter pain medication or anything that thins the blood or changes the blood in any way, check with your physician before undergoing treatment.

There is absolutely nothing to worry about, as PRF treatments are as safe as any treatment out there. But you can never be too careful!

We recommend minimizing exposure to sunlight immediately after PRF treatments. We also suggest using our post care skin products to reduce inflammation, accelerate healing and improve your results.

We can provide guidance on all aspects of aftercare at your appointment.

After your PRF treatment for acne scars, you should have minimal signs of having undergone the procedure.

You may possibly experience a mild tingling sensation at the treatment site and the skin may be a little red or sensitive.

If this happens to you, don’t worry. It passes quickly and should not have any long-term effects.

PRF for Acne Scar FAQs

Hair and Skin Science believes very strongly that PRF treatments do really work. The huge majority of our 100,000 or so clients say the same. We pride ourselves in being pioneers in these treatments and do our utmost to ensure your complete satisfaction.

However, this is medicine and there are no guarantees. While the vast majority of patients have seen definite improvements, nothing is guaranteed.
PRF appointments are designed to make you as comfortable as possible and take up as little time as they can. They will typically last around 45 minutes and will be performed in clean, hygienic treatment rooms.

We begin by taking a little blood and running it through a centrifuge. We then add the PRF solution to the microneedler and apply it to the skin. You then have the option to shine a red LED light into the treated area, check everything and you can then be on your way. Quick, simple, painless!
No, PRF injections for acne scars are not painful. The word ‘injection’, while technically correct, doesn’t do the treatment justice. We use tiny injections on the site where there is acne scarring and also a special microneedler for the specific area and for the entire face.

This microneedler enables us to deliver the PRF solution where we need it with minimal discomfort, leaving minimal sign of the treatment.
PRF for acne scars will typically show signs of improvement within 4-6 weeks of your first treatment. It’s a gradual process as we’re using your body’s own healing potential to address the condition.

Much will depend on your age, seriousness of the condition we’re treating, your overall health and wellbeing and your genetics. Typically, you should begin seeing signs of improvement within 4-6 weeks.
